When I begin designing (or re-designing) a client's website, I base my design on three things:

the needs of my client
the needs of my clients' users
search engine optimization
Too many web developers don't think about search optimization until after they have already designed the site, or they try to sell it as a separate service. Unfortunately, a lot of search engine optimization needs to be done in the site's underlying HTML code-- and that needs to be done in the design phase. I make sure all of my clients' sites are designed from the start with search engines in mind.

After all, in the end it's probably more important that your site is found and accessible to your users than that it looks great (of course, I always aim to give you the best of both worlds). So it makes sense to make sure your site performs as well as possible in the big three search engines-- Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft Live (formerly MSN).

In addition to optimizing the underlying HTML code for the search engines, I help all of my clients establish accounts with Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft that allow them to track their performance on the major search engines. I also install Google Analytics, which allows users to monitor specifically what queries work best for their site in Google. Last but not least, all of my hosting clients receive two statistics packages to track visits to the site, search keywords, and user behavior.

Of course, these services can sometimes be a little complex, so I am happy to support and answer any questions about any of the statistics collection software that I recommend. I do this at no additional charge for my hosting and design clients.

For a fee, I can also consult on Internet marketing campaigns and help you get the most for your money.

If you're considering search optimization for your site, reading over Google's suggestions might be helpful.
